In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the College is collaborating with NYC agencies and community organizations to bring attention to the issue of Domestic/Intimate Partner Violence. The Domestic Violence Resource Fair and Panel Discussion will take place on Thursday, Oct. 13 in the Campus Center (Building 1C) Green Dolphin Lounge. The Resource Fair runs from 3:00pm to 5:15pm and the Panel Discussion will take place from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. This event is open to students (CC CLUE), faculty, staff, and community members.
Did you know?
-Nearly half (43%) of dating college women report experiencing violent and abusive dating behaviors.
-One in six (16%) college women has been sexually abused in a dating relationship.
-In a study of gay, lesbian, and bisexual adolescents, youths involved in same-sex dating are just as likely to experience dating violence as youths involved in opposite-sex dating.
You can take a stand to help end the violence. Join us for the Resource Fair, which will showcase more than a dozen organizations, as well as a Panel Presentation featuring experts and survivors. This is a great opportunity to learn more about these issues and the types of resources available on Staten Island.
This event is co-sponsored by the Borough President’s Office and the NYC Family Justice Center.
