The College of Staten Island men’s basketball team made it 12 in a row this evening, scoring a lop-sided, 86-62, win over Brooklyn College as part of CUNYAC play in Brooklyn, NY.  The Dolphins improved to 18-6 overall and a perfect 15-0 in CUNYAC play while Brooklyn fell to 5-18, 3-11, respectively.  Senior Frank Schettino notched his third triple-double of the season, recording 14 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds.

The Dolphins fell behind, 5-0, to start the game but then proceeded to go on a 14-2 run that gave them a lead that they would never relinquish the rest of the way.  Kevon Murphy scored 9 points on the run in the interior, setting the pace for a strong inside game all evening.  From there the teams traded scoring spurts, trading baskets at times and seeing the Dolphins go up by 9 points on four different occasions before BC would knock down the lead.  At the 3:09 mark, back-to-back baskets by BC’s Niv Konfino rallied the Bulldogs to within three, 41-38.

That seemed to spark CSI, as they responded well before teh hlf was through.  Schettino would drain a three and then knock down two free throws and after a BC miss, Edin Bracic nailed a three of his own to give CSI a 49-38 edge.  after yet another miss, Kevon Murphy earned a lay-up to give CSI a 51-38 lead that it would take into the locker room, its biggest lead to that point.

Four Robert Rossiter to help start the second half got CSI off to a 57-40 lead to intro the second half and from there, CSI seemed well on their way.  After going up by 20, CSI saw BC try to make their move midway through the half and a Konfino lay-up cut the lead to 70-54.  Needing  lift, CSI retaliated with an immediate 7-0 run punctuated by two Bracic jumpers, the second a three-pointer.

CSI preached defense from there and already up big, CSI held BC to just 1-6 from the floor with two turnovers in the game’s final four minutes to ice the win, their 12th-straight.

Murphy led all scorers with 27 points adding 10 rebounds to go with Schettino’s triple-double, which leads the nation.  Edin Bracic added 15 points while Khaleeq Baum scored 10.  BC was led by Konfino’s 23 points while Enees Nikovic added 16 points and 11 boards.  CSI out-rebounded BC 53-41, and CSI shot 47% from the field to Brooklyn’s 36%.

The Dolphins will look to extend their win streak and finish the CUNYAC Regular Season a perfect 16-0, when they face off against Lehman College on Friday, February 10, at 7:30pm.  It will also be Senior Night at CSI and they will honor seniors Khaleeq Baum, Vincent Dacunto, and Frank schettino.
