In order to make informed choices about the use of drugs and alcohol, CUNY employees should familiarize themselves with the risks and consequences of substance abuse. The online memo discusses (a) possible criminal sanctions for the illegal possession of drugs or alcohol, (b) the health risks associated with the use of drugs and alcohol, and (c) drug or alcohol counseling, treatment, rehabilitation, and re-entry programs available in the community.
In addition to the resources mentioned in the memo, you may also contact Deer Oaks, our Employee Assistance Program at 855.492.3363 if you or a family member need counseling or assistance finding a substance abuse program. Deer Oaks provides free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, prevention, and education services for you and your dependents. Trained counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please be assured that the College is committed to ensuring strict compliance of CUNY’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.
