The College of Staten Island athletics program has hired Jaclyn Panepinto as its new Marketing & Development Coordinator, it was announced today. A new, part-time position, Panepinto’s post will encompass CSI Athletics’ marketing and promotional outreach through special events and new services designed to reach the community and generate student engagement and fan involvement.
“This is an important hire for the CSI Athletics department,” said Charles Gomes, Director of Athletics. “As we continue to develop the CSI Dolphin Athletics brand, our staff identified the Marketing & Development Coordinator as a position of need. We hope CSI students, alums and members of the Staten Island community will notice the impact Jaclyn makes in short amount of time.”
A 2017 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut, Panepinto has a heavy background in athletics, coming off of a successful four-year career as a track and field star for the Owls’ NCAA Division II program. Alongside her athletic achievements as a scholarship athlete, Panepinto was also a part of the campus’ Alumni Office, working directly with the Office of Community Engagement for events and programming.
In 2016, Panepinto was also a part of her alma mater’s Academic Success Center as a peer tutor, where she also helped organize workshops such as time-management and balancing athletic and academic success. A member of the SCSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Panepinto was engaged in numerous community-service based activities, such as Miles for Smiles and the Vicki Soto 5k runs, while spearheading many events hosted on campus designed to enhance the student-athlete experience.
An Interdisciplinary Studies major, Panepinto’s academic focuses included Business Administration, Management and Marketing. She is hoping to parlay her studies and experiences as a student-athlete and coordinator to a successful run in CSI’s newest capacity.
“I am overjoyed by the opportunity to work at a college so close to my home,” Panepinto said. “I am ecstatic to help build the marketing and development program here.”
Panepinto begins her new appointment on July 10.
