The College of Staten Island women’s tennis team is just weeks away from its 2017-18 debut, and they have released their official schedule this afternoon, one that sees them play a total of 15 regular season matches spreading over the fall and spring competitive seasons.
The Dolphins will start with four of their five five matches on home turf and four of their first five matches against CUNYAC competition. That includes their home opener against Hunter College, a perennial CUNYAC favorite. The two meet at the CSI Tennis Center on September 9 at 12 Noon to officially usher in the 2017 campaign. CSI then goes on the road for the first time six days later on September 15, when they travel to face York College at 4:00pm
The Dolphins will play their first four matches in October on the road, a run that includes a CUNYAC contest at Brooklyn College on October 4, and then a pair of tough dates at St. Joseph’s (LI) on October 8 and William Paterson on October 11. The Dolphins finish with two of their final three matches at home, including their CUNYAC finale against Lehman College on October 12.
The CUNYAC Postseason Championship Tournament will close out October. Six teams will usher in Quarterfinal play on October 22, and the Semifinals and Final are set for October 24 and 27, respectively, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows. The winner of the tournament earns a berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in May. Win or lose, CSI’s schedule will include three matches in April, one at home against Farmingdale State (4/18) and a pair on the road at Rutgers – Newark (4/21) and Mount Saint Mary College (4/26).
