The College of Staten Island swimming & diving team returns to action tonight when they travel to face CUNYAC-rivals, Lehman College, at the Apex in the Bronx, NY, at 5:30pm.

Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins are being led by four players on the men’s side who have logged 100+ points.  Jonathan Gorinshteyn leads the way with 195 points and has 14 Top Three finishes in individual events.  Close behind is Nicholas Defonte and Brandon Lei are close behind with 13 Top Three finishes, with Defonte posting 163 points.  Pete Carle has amassed 124 points and is tied for tops on the team with 10 Top Three finishes in Relay events.  CSI has also dominated the diving boards this season with the brother tandem of Adil and Ayman El Haddad leading the way, sharing 14 Gold medal placings on the boards in total.  On the women’s side, Ewa Wojciechowska is well ahead of the field with 179.5 points earned with 12 first place finishes and Top Three finishes in individual events.  Alicia Defonote is next in line with 116 points with freshman Cecelia Mauro close behind with 95.  Freestyler Victoria Musarella is the team leader in relay events with six Top Three finishes.
Players to Watch (LC): Look for swimmers like Ryan Sanchez to lead the way for Lehman, joined by divers Juan Toribio and Escardo Castelan making a difference.  Adam Acevedo and Adres Rodriguez are sprinters who could also post big points for the Lightning.  On the women’s side, Sarina Eshtiaghi, Sheila Davila, Yaidee Nieves and Christina Hitchman can also figure into the mix and give the Dolphins all they can handle.
News & Notes: For the men, the Dolphins have won the last four meetings, and last year’s 157-74 win by CSI was the biggest margin of victory in the series since 2011.  In the Bronx, CSI is 6-3 all-time and have taken the last two meetings.  Lehman’s last win against CSI at the Apex was back in January of 2012.  Lehman and CSI have one common opponent in Brooklyn College.  CSI defeated Brooklyn, 116-112, while Lehman also beat Brooklyn by four points 119-115.  On the women’s side, CSI has won the last five meetings and the last two in the Bronx.  Lehman’s last win in the series was in 2012, a 115-85 win in the Bronx.  Against their common opponent, CSI defeated Brooklyn, 117-81, while Lehman fell to Brooklyn, 108-103.
