College of Staten Island senior women’s basketball standout Samantha Flecker was at the forefront of a 3-0 week for the Dolphins, and for her efforts she was named Player of the Week by the City University of New York Athletic Conference, her third such honor of the season.
Also named the CSI Female Athlete of the Week this week, Flecker was a centerpiece this past week, helping CSI rebound from a road loss on Dec. 29. To start the New Year, she recorded a double-double in a big win over Lehman College with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Then over this past weekend, she scored a season-high 23 points in a 76-46 win over Baruch on the road, adding a team-best nine rebounds and three steals. The very next day, she topped her previous scoring high with 25 points on 8-16 shooting in a win over Lancaster Bible. Flecker added seven rebounds and a team-high six assists as well. For the week she averaged 21.3 points per game, raising her season average to an even 15. She also leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game, is second on the team with 44 steals and third on the squad with 43 assists.
The Dolphins will get back to action tomorrow, traveling to Medgar Evers to continue CUNYAC play at 5pm.
