At the core of the CSI Library’s mission is to provide access to resources and research assistance in an environment that welcomes collaboration and individual study. The Library Access Policy affirms that access to the facility is available to students, faculty, and staff who hold current, validated identification cards from the College of Staten Island, all other CUNY colleges, and from Empire State College.

Members of the general public may use the Library’s facilities during normal hours of operation, but are required to show a photo ID to enter the Library. Further details related to accessing resources and services are available online.

In order to improve how the access policy is applied, a new system has been developed, beginning Monday, Jan. 29. If a member of the CSI community does not have their current Dolphin ID card present, their name will be verified in the system by an Officer at the Public Safety satellite office and they will then be allowed to enter the building. It will be noted in the system that they did not have their current ID and after a fifth occurrence they will have to obtain a new Dolphin ID card. All CUNY members will continue to show their college ID’s, and members of the general public will still be required to show a photo ID and will be signed in at the Public Safety satellite office.

As a reminder, food is not allowed in the Library and drinks must be in a sealed container.  We also ask that our patrons keep noise levels to a minimum in order to maintain an environment conducive to research and study.
