Myrtle Beach, SC | The College of Staten Island baseball squad wrapped up their spring training trip to Myrtle Beach, SC, with a doubleheader split this afternoon with the University of Valley Forge, falling in the first game, 4-2, before rebounding for an 11-7 win in the second.  CSI finished the trip with an even 3-3 record, while UVF moved to 1-7 on the young season.

In the opener, CSI just could not get the bats going, falling 4-2 thanks to a great pitching performance from freshman Zachary Nunnery.  Juan Rodriguez took the tough loss for CSI.

In the second game, CSI broke out the bats and came-from-behind to score the win.  Christian Capellan improved to 2-0 on the hill with four innings of relief, getting the win while Nicholas Meola rapped a two-run home run and John Pomerico finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double, and a two-run homer.  Joseph Amato also pitched in with two RBI.

CSI will now return home and get set for their home opener scheduled for Sunday, Match 11, at the CSI Baseball Complex against Farmingdale State University for a 12 Noon doubleheader.
