Dolphin Cove is seeking volunteers for CSI’s Sixth Annual New Student Move-in Day. This year, we will be welcoming approximately 300 freshmen to our residence halls on Saturday, Aug. 25  between 9:00am and 4:00pm. Returning students will move in on Sunday, Aug. 26.

Each year, members from the campus community join in to assist during move-in day, an important early experience for incoming freshmen and their families as they begin their collective journey at CSI. Beyond the participation of all Dolphin Cove staff, move-in requires an additional 35 to 40 volunteers to efficiently facilitate the various parts of the process. In addition to greeting our new students and their families to campus, volunteers will assist students in transporting their belongings from the unloading area to the students’ rooms in both the North and South Residence Halls. This is a great opportunity for faculty, staff, and current students to meet and engage with new students and their families while welcoming them into the CSI community.

Volunteers are being asked to commit to a minimum of one three-hour shift during the day:  8:30am to 11:30am, 10:30am to 1:30pm, or 12:30pm to 3:30pm. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and bagged breakfast or lunch. Move-in day culminates with a barbecue and town hall for resident students, which volunteers are welcome to attend as well.

If you or any member of your staff is interested in volunteering, please complete the online form.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact McKala Accetura in Dolphin Cove at mckala.accetura@csi.cuny.edu.

Thank you in advance for helping to making move-in day a great experience for new students and their families.  I hope to see you on Aug. 25.
