Please join us on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in Building 6S, Room 138 at 2:30pm for a Dean’s Symposium, presented by the Division of Science and Technology
The Symposium will feature “Beauty in Mathematics; Mathematics in Beauty,” a lecture and discussion with Mikael Vejdemo Johansson, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.
Many mathematicians are driven by a passion for an intrinsic beauty in mathematics itself, one that often resides in the abstract. Many artists draw on mathematical ideas and constructions for their art. We will try to demonstrate what mathematicians think of as beautiful, what arts come from mathematics, and how these meet in contemporary 3D printing artist mathematicians.
A reception will follow.
This is a CC-CLUE event.
