The College of Staten Island will officially end the CUNYAC Regular Season this afternoon, when they travel to Lehman College to face the Lightning in a doubleheader that is sure to determine final playoff seeding as the teams ramp up for the CUNYAC Postseason Championship Tournament. The Dolphins can finish anywhere from second place to fourth place heading into the postseason.

Players to Watch (CSI): The Dolphins continue to be paced by the hot hitting of Patricia Riches, who is batting .542, spreading out 52 hots with a team-best 10 doubles, three triples, while posting third on the team with 25 RBI. Antoinette Galbo is really turning it on as of late and has boosted her average up to .370, sharing the team-lead with Riches with three triples. She also leads the unit with 12 stolen bases. Jaclyn Kateridge and Sierra Kaplanek are both next on the docket with a .348 average. Kateridge is among the team’s leaders with 26 runs scored, while Kaplanek is pacing the team with 32 RBI. Alison Meagher leads the way in the circle, boasting a 7-3 record with a 1.52 ERA. Kateridge is also up there with a 3.63 ERA in 79 innings.
Players to Watch (LC): LC is being led by the sensational play of Caitlin Vernon, who is batting .486 with a team-best 35 hits, posting 10 for extra-bases. Diamond Villegas is also batting a sharp .472, leading the team with 10 doubles and five home runs, adding 25 RBI and 27 runs scored, all team bests. Marina Delgado has also been very consistent with a .389 average. Villegas doubles in the circle for Lehman, where she is now 7-8 with a 4.74 ERA in 96 innings. Lehman’s other hurler is Tiffany Adames, who is 4-8 with a 7.94 ERA.
News & Notes: This has been a series dominated by the Dolphins as they have won 66 of the 71 all-time meetings since 1984. That run includes an unprecedented 33-game winning streak over the Lightning that dates back to April of 2004. These two teams last saw each other in the CUNYAC Championship a year ago, with CSI scoring a 4-1 win to lock up their sixth-straight CUNYAC title. Today’s matches take place at Lehman, where CSI is 30-5 all time. The Dolphins are 34-0 all time vs. Lehman at home. Lehman’s last win in the series was back in 2003 at Lehman College by scores of 8-5 and 9-7. Since that doubleheader, CSI has won 14-straight in the Bronx over the Lightning.
