Notice Regarding Sexual Misconduct

Please be advised that the email below was sent to all students this afternoon:

This notice is being issued to remind you, especially during the holiday season, that sexual assault is a crime and “only yes means yes.”

Anyone can be a victim of sexual assault and anyone can be a perpetrator – sexual assault does not just occur between strangers.

Remember, consent to engage in sexual activity must be clear and unambiguous for each participant at every stage of a sexual encounter – and consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Someone not saying “No” should never be interpreted as a “Yes” – again, only yes means yes.

And perhaps the most important reminder during the upcoming festivities:  a person who is asleep, or mentally or physically incapacitated due to drugs, alcohol, or for any other reason, is not capable of giving valid consent to engage in sexual activity.

Here is our Policy on Sexual Misconduct.
