I am pleased to welcome back all of our returning students, faculty, and staff. For those who are new to the College of Staten Island, I extend to you a warm welcome to the CSI family.

As you travel around campus, you will notice construction taking place around the soccer field where new bleachers are being installed. Later this spring, the College will begin a sidewalk repaving project and Academic Stair Tower exterior roof repairs, as well as the continued design and construction of Building 2M, home to the Lucille and Jay Chazanoff School of Business.

I am also happy to report the approval of our School of Education’s proposal for an EdD in Community-Based Leadership. The program is designed to prepare professionals from all sectors supporting young people, including education, social work, psychology/mental health, medicine, business, and law to lead cross-sector coalitions of service and will launch this July. Applications for this first of its kind program in the United States will be accepted through Apr. 15.

To all our students, I encourage you to get involved. Studies show that the more you are engaged with others on campus, the more likely it is that you will graduate. To that end, take advantage of the many clubs and activities that we offer, take in a performance sponsored by our Drama and Music departments, or cheer on our Dolphin athletic teams. Keep your eye on the College’s CUNY events calendar page. CSI Today, reporting news and information almost daily, and our social media, which is updated frequently.

Lastly, please take a moment to read the online budget message which I sent to the campus community earlier this month.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone for the work they do each day in support of our students and our Mission.
