Today marks one year since the murder of George Floyd–a year marked by powerful demonstrations and emotions, which brought many people together, united in the pursuit of justice. This year also saw the conviction of former police officer Derek Chauvin, as well as the passage of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act by the House of Representatives.
While many actions have been taken, much work still needs to be done to combat systemic racism. Today, I ask that you join me in reaffirming our commitment to make meaningful change, continuing our efforts to build and promote a more just and equitable community for all. Together, we can make a difference.
