The message below was sent to students to inform them of the protocol to follow should they test positive for COVID-19 at a non-CUNY test site or are informed they are a close contact of someone who tested positive at a non-CUNY test site.

If you become aware of students who test positive for COVID-19 at a non-CUNY testing site (e.g., urgent care, doctor’s office, NYC and H+H testing sites, etc.) or were notified that they are close contacts by someone who tested positive at a non-CUNY test site, please notify Danielle Dimitrov, Esq., Executive Director of Student Affairs and Student Coronavirus Liaison, via email: danielle.dimitrov@csi.cuny.edu or the Health Center via email at healthcenter@csi.cuny.edu

When a student tests positive at a CUNY testing site, Cleared4 automatically notifies the campus Student Coronavirus Liaison and the Health Center so they may follow-up to assist the student and conduct contact tracing so close contacts can be notified.

Thank you for your assistance.

Subject: Reporting Positive COVID-19 test or Close Contact Protocol for Students

If you are a student who tests positive for COVID-19 or is a close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you must immediately notify CSI. Please see details below:

What do I do if I test positive for COVID-19?

The College is here to help you during this difficult time.

If you test positive through routine screening at a CUNY testing site (via Cleared4), campus officials will be notified of the positive test and will be in contact with you and your close contacts.

*Commuter students who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate at home for ten days and provide a post-ten-day isolation period negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center to be cleared to return to campus if they are in compliance with the CUNY Vaccine Policy.

*Residential students who test positive for COVID-19 must notify a staff member at Dolphin Cove immediately by calling 718.982.3019. They will make arrangements for you to isolate for ten days in Dolphin Cove. To be cleared from isolation, you will need to provide a post-ten-day isolation period negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center. More details about the residence halls and COVID-19 may be found online.

If you test positive at a non-CUNY testing site (e.g., urgent care, doctor’s office, NYC and H+H testing sites, etc.), please follow these protocols:

*Commuter students must isolate at home for ten days and provide a post-ten-day-period negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center to be cleared to return to campus if they are in compliance with the CUNY Vaccine Policy.

-Whether taking fully online, hybrid, or in-person courses, students should notify Danielle Dimitrov, Esq., Executive Director of Student Affairs and Student Coronavirus Liaison, immediately via email: danielle.dimitrov@csi.cuny.edu or the Health Center via email at healthcenter@csi.cuny.edu

*Residential students must notify a Dolphin Cove staff member immediately by calling 718.982.3019 and then notify the Health Center at healthcenter@csi.cuny.edu.   Arrangements will be made for you to isolate for ten days in Dolphin Cove. To be cleared from isolation, you will need to provide a post-ten-day negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center.

What do I do if I am considered a close contact with someone who tested positive?

*All students who are close contactswhether taking fully online, hybrid, or in-person courses, should contact Danielle Dimitrov, Esq., Executive Director of Student Affairs and Student Coronavirus Liaison via email: danielle.dimitrov@csi.cuny.edu or the Health Center via email at healthcenter@csi.cuny.edu

*A fully vaccinated commuter student who is a close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 and has no symptoms should not come to campus and should get tested at a non-CUNY site three to five days after their exposure. Students must provide a negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the Health Center to be cleared to return to campus.

*A fully vaccinated residential student who is a close contact to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 and has no symptoms must notify a Dolphin Cove staff member immediately at 718.982.3019. They will make arrangements for you to quarantine for three to five days in Dolphin Cove. To be cleared from quarantine, you will need to provide a negative PCR test from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center to be cleared from quarantine.

An unvaccinated student who is a close contact with someone who has COVID-19 – regardless of whether they have symptoms – should not come to campus and should quarantine for ten days. To be cleared to return to campus, students must provide a post-ten-day quarantine period negative PCR test result from a non-CUNY site to the CSI Health Center and have a medical exemption or religious exception to the CUNY Vaccine Policy.

The CSI Health Center staff will follow up with students who test positive or are deemed close contacts and provide guidance accordingly. Assistance with academic accommodations and emergency funding (if qualified) may be available. Thus, it is essential for students taking fully remote courses to report testing positive for COVID-19 or being a close contact.
