The College of Staten Island Athletics program honored CSI President Dr. William J. Fritz this afternoon in a rousing tribute during halftime of CSI Men’s Basketball contest against Molloy College.

Part of Alumni Day at the College, members of the Men’s Basketball alumni gathered for the 10th Annual Matty White Memorial Alumni Game earlier in the morning, and following a luncheon on the upper concourse of the arena, alumni and community members were treated to CSI’s first-ever matchup against ECC-rivals Molloy College.

At halftime, attention turned to center court, where members of the Athletics’ administration, led by Interim Director of Athletics T.J. Tibbs paid tribute to Dr. Fritz, mentioning his unwavering commitment towards strengthening athletics and using it as a beacon to illustrate the great strides the College has made. Part of the NCAA Division III President’s Council, Dr. Fritz was mentioned as a driving force behind the recent move to Division II, making CSI a destination campus. The halftime speech also highlighted several initiatives spearheaded by Dr. Fritz, including the creation of three schools on the campus, and over $250 million in facility renovations and enhancements.

Members of the CSI faculty and staff joined Dr. Fritz at center court during the festivities, while many others remained in their seats to take in the ceremony and join him for the remainder of the contest.
