I hope you are enjoying your summer and have had the opportunity for some rest and relaxation. As for Information Technology, the summer is a busy time for us. Please take the time to review the following updates and friendly reminders.

Office 2019

Information Technology is working on an Office 2019 upgrade for faculty, staff, and student computers. The HelpDesk will be notifying each of the areas before performing these upgrades. Please be on the alert for this communication. Office 2019 is very similar to Office 2016 so formal training is not needed. However, if you have any questions, please contact the Training team at technologytraining@csi.cuny.edu.

M365

The mail migration to M365 is moving along. As part of the process, email in the old environment (Exchange) will need to be migrated to the new M365 environment. In order to ease the transition, it is highly recommended that you begin to clean up your current mailbox.

·       Self-help resources to assist you with mailbox housekeeping:

o   Outlook Desktop Client

o   Outlook Web Access (OWA)

·       If you need assistance or would like to receive some helpful tips, please register for the Email Housekeeping – MS Outlook workshop. You may also want to register for the TEAMS and M365 workshops if you have the opportunity.

On the Horizon

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for TEAMS is currently being piloted with a small population of users. We will be notifying the community when we turn on MFA for the rest of the College – most likely sometime in July.

Security

There has been an increase in phishing attempts, where email appears to be legitimate, but unfortunately it is not. Common elements include a request for a password change or a link to view a document in OneDrive. Please remain cautious and do not click on any links that appear suspicious. If you have any questions or need clarification, contact the HelpDesk immediately – HelpDesk@csi.cuny.edu

Thank you, as always, for your support.
