An issue has been brought to our attention caused by the campus migration to Microsoft 365. The new system is pulling information from CUNYFirst and displays legal names of all faculty and staff on the Global Address List even if they have a preferred name on their account. This is visible to anyone in the CUNY system.

For example, our very own Terry Mares now has Terence listed as his name on his email profile.

You may or may not have noticed this affecting you. There is a fix available, identified by our IT office.

Anyone experiencing this issue that would like their profile updated with their preferred name, can email Susan.Hannafin@csi.cuny.edu in HR and make this request. HR is aware of this issue and is ready to make updates as needed.

Please be aware that this is a CUNY-wide issue that is and will affect every campus once they go through the migration. CUNY Central has been made aware of the issue by our IT office. I encourage everyone to look out for one another as exposure of legal names can affect some more than others.

Thank you to IT and HR for taking this issue seriously and for providing a solution.

A reminder that any student, staff, or faculty at CSI can have their preferred name reflected in various ways. Go here for more information: https://www.csi.cuny.edu/about-csi/diversity-csi/lgbtq-resource-center/preferred-name-change
