The College of Staten Island has, once again, been named a Military Friendly® and a Military Spouse Friendly® School. CSI was ranked No. 2 in Small Public Institutions in both categories for 2023-2024.
Regarding this latest ranking, CSI President Timothy G. Lynch stated, “I am pleased that CSI has again received recognition from Military Friendly® for the exceptional support services that we provide to student-veterans and their spouses. The College continues to assist our student-veterans and their families with the utmost gratitude for their unwavering sacrifice to our country by providing a nurturing academic environment that will help them achieve their academic goals as they transition from military to civilian life.”
According to the Military Friendly® Website, “The list of Military Friendly® Schools and Military Spouse Friendly® Schools ratings are assessed through the evaluation of both public data about the institution and proprietary data gathered through our free Military Friendly® Schools survey. The annual, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey assessment is offered at no cost to more than 8,800 institutions nationwide. Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than in previous years via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and our Advisory Council.”
Veterans Support Services works closely with many other campus departments providing wellness evaluations, academic advisement, and educational and financial aid benefits. In addition, the Veterans Support Services office is located in the Campus Center (Building 1C) Room 219. Student-veterans can also use the office as a hub to network and connect with each other. Veterans Support Services has computers, printers, phone, fax, and a library of educational and reference materials available to all CSI student-veterans. The office also provides opportunities for student-veterans to connect with one another.
