CUNY has made good progress toward mitigating cybersecurity risks through the implementation of the Security Operations Center. One area that needs additional attention is cyber security awareness by our staff and faculty so we can further reduce threat actors’ opportunities to access CUNY systems. To that end, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, the Board of Trustees approved the new CUNY Acceptable Use of Digital Assets and Resources. The resolution for the new policy includes the following text:

WHEREAS, All Users will be required to complete technology training, including cybersecurity awareness training, as directed by the University.

To provide staff and faculty cybersecurity training, CIS created a 40-minute Cybersecurity Awareness Training course designed specifically for CUNY. The course covers various cybersecurity risks, such as phishing attacks, spam, protecting CUNY accounts, and most effective methods for safeguarding data. Please complete the Cybersecurity Awareness Training course by Tuesday, Apr. 30. The course may be accessed from your CUNY Blackboard account’s home page by navigating to “My Organizations”; from there, you can view and complete the Cybersecurity Awareness Training. By completing the required annual Cybersecurity Awareness Training course, we will be reducing CUNY’s Cybersecurity risk.

If you have any questions regarding the Cybersecurity Awareness Training course, please contact CISTraining@cuny.edu.
