Welcome back–the fall term is about to begin. I’d like to take this opportunity to share some important dates and deadlines set within the Academic Calendar that can have a great impact on our students.
Please note very significant change to the academic calendar below. The University has reinstated the pre-COVID policy regarding the last day for a student to withdraw from a class with a grade of W. As a result, the last day to drop with a W is Nov. 6, 2024, for the fall term and not the last day before final exams. Please work with and communicate to your students regarding this important change.
Important Academic Calendar Dates (the Academic Calendar is subject to change at any time by official action of the University):
- Tuesday, Aug. 27: Last day to get a 100% refund for dropping a class(es).
- Wednesday, Aug. 28: Classes begin.
- Tuesday, Sept. 3:
- Last day to add a class or swap a class.
- Financial Aid enrollment certification date.
- Last day to receive a 75% refund.
- Tuesday, Sept. 10:
- Last day to receive a 50% refund.
- Tuesday, Sept. 17:
- Last day a student can drop on CUNYfirst without a “W” grade on the transcript.
- Last day to receive a 25% refund.
- Last day to register for an independent study course for Fall 2024.
- Last day for students to change or declare a major/minor for it to be effective for Fall 2024.
- Census Date (Form A) for fall term.
- Tuesday, Oct. 1: Last day for students to apply for January 2025 graduation.
- Wednesday Nov. 6: Last day for a student to drop a course with a grade of W.
- Saturday, Dec. 14: Last day of regularly scheduled classes.
- Sunday, Dec. 15: Grade rosters open for Fall 2024 in CUNYfirst.
- Sunday, Dec. 15-Saturday, Dec. 21: Final Exam Period – Details sent under separate cover.
- Friday, Dec. 27: Grade rosters close for Fall 2024 at 11:59pm.
