The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development is pleased to offer the following sessions on Assessment in November:
Learning Outcomes Assessment: The Very Simple Methods for Useful Results
Tuesday, Nov. 19, 12:30pm – 1:30pm
You have created learning outcomes for your course or program and now you need to assess what students have learned. Join us for an “uncluttered” view of assessment strategies that will dispel misconceptions, offer short cuts, and help you zero in on what students have learned in your course and your field (major), such as:
- the important concepts, methods, perspectives in your discipline,
- the important skills to apply in or after the exit your course,
- the knowledge needed to pursue a career in your field,
- and more.
This virtual workshop will help facilitate the process and make it easier, and more straight forward, to overcome obstacles of assessing learning outcomes in your course or program.
Presenter: Michael Anderson, PhD, Director of Assessment, Office of Academic Affairs
Assessment of Learning for Accreditation and Continuous Improvement
Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2:30pm-4:00pm
Please join Professors Lauren Mullins and Banu Aslanertik as they present some of the work they have done at the Chazanoff School for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) assessment. They will discuss direct and indirect learning assessments, closing the assessment circle, and linking objectives to outcomes. They will also discuss how they have grown their assessment system in the Chazanoff School, including one of the major takeaways from assessment thus far–the power of note-taking.
