The School of Education at the College of Staten Island invites you to the 18th Mathematics Connections Conference.

The speaker is the Designer Imre Kökényesi from the University Budapest, Hungary. 

Keynote Presentation: Wednesday, Apr. 9 in Building 1A, Room 406 from 4:40pm to 6:00pm.

The title of the meeting will be “CogniPlay: A Game & AI-Powered Method to Enhance Skills and Knowledge in Young Learners.”

Abstract: The CogniPlay method represents an innovative interdisciplinary educational approach that leverages specially designed pedagogical and cognitive games. These manipulation-based, tangible tools are complemented by online versions, fostering engagement in both digital and analog environments. The system aims to cultivate an adaptive, personalized learning experience that integrates game-based development with the benefits of artificial intelligence, while providing continuous feedback throughout the learning process. Key themes include creativity, curiosity, collaboration, compassion, and critical thinking.

Meeting Abstract:  This presentation will explore the complexities of teaching and learning mathematics in linguistically diverse contexts, particularly in African classrooms where instruction often occurs in a language other than the students’ home language. Dr. Essien will theorize on how teacher development initiatives can empower educators to utilize students’ multilingual repertoires effectively.
