Lynda Blackmon Lowery ’82, a civil rights activist who, in 1965 at age 14, was one of the youngest marchers in Selma, AL, died last December in Selma at age 75. Though attacked by police during the march, she remained undeterred and was arrested nine times for participating in civil rights demonstrations before turning 15.
Ms. Lowery, who received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the College of Staten Island, eventually became a home health aide and safety officer.
