The College of Staten Island invites partner universities, medical schools, nursing programs, and allied health departments to nominate students for our Winter 2027 Medical Internship in Santiago, Chile. Hosted by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC Chile)—the #1 university in Chile and Latin America—this short-term academic program provides students with a structured international healthcare experience focused on clinical leadership, 0healthcare systems, and professional roles in complex hospital environments.
Participants engage in approximately 60 hours of instruction and supervised clinical observations at UC Chile’s affiliated university hospital, complemented by medical workshops, seminars, and reflective academic activities. The program is conducted entirely in English, is open to CUNY and non-CUNY students, and awards four U.S. academic credits (BIO 594 Biology Internship) on a College of Staten Island transcript, which students may transfer back to their home institution according to its own local academic policies.
To support student success and safety, the program package includes single-room accommodations in the business and residential district of Providencia, airport transfers, cultural programming, and a one-day academic and cultural excursion to Valparaíso. Designed for undergraduate students who have completed at least one year of study, this observational internship offers an accessible and academically rigorous international experience for students pursuing careers in medicine, nursing, physical therapy, public health, and related health professions.
