You are invited to Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Reading Group and Faculty Feedback Session on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 2:30pm in the Library (Building 1L), Room 203.
What are some ways we can support CSI students in becoming stronger writers? How can we meaningfully incorporate writing in some of our gen ed and major classes? If these questions interest you, please join Dr. Rosanne Carlo, Associate Professor in the English Department, for a conversation on rebuilding our Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Program at CSI.
This session will be an opportunity to discuss the goals and future directions of the WAC Program at CSI. Participants are encouraged to read the 2026 WAC CSI WAC Program Proposal in advance and come prepared to share thoughts on how we might develop the WAC Program and provide meaningful faculty support and development. Susan McCleod’s historical article, “The Pedagogy of Writing Across the Curriculum,” will serve as an anchor text for our discussion. The article traces the origins of the WAC movement and its three pedagogical approaches to writing: Writing to Learn, Writing to Communicate, and Writing to Make Knowledge.
Please contact Professor Rosanne Carlo if you have questions or comments in advance of the meeting, or if you cannot attend but wish to offer your feedback: rosanne.carlo@csi.cuny.edu .
