The College of Staten Island’s Fall 2026 Earth and Environmental Science Speaker Series continues this week with two presentations offering the campus community and the public an opportunity to explore important topics in geology, natural hazards, and climate science.

On Tuesday, November 3, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm, CSI Professor Dr. Alan Benimoff will present “The Geology of Vacations”: Risk from Natural Hazards. His presentation will explore how natural hazards can become natural disasters in popular vacation destinations and the importance of geoscience education in understanding and reducing those risks.

On Thursday, November 5, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm, Dr. Jonathan Lambert of New York University will present Reconstructing Upper Ocean Conditions in the Western Equatorial Pacific Over the Last 250,000 Years. His talk will examine how oceanographic research and climate records are helping scientists better understand long-term changes in the region and their broader impact on global climate.

Both presentations will take place in Building 3N, Room 103, and are open to the college community and others interested in these fascinating subjects.
