David Bloomfield

Holds a J.D. Degree from Columbia University, an M.P.A. from Princeton University and a B.A. from Brandeis University. A former elementary and middle school teacher, Professor Bloomfield served as law clerk to federal judge Robert L. Carter before joining Hogan & Hartson in Washington, DC. He has served as NYC Assistant Corporation Counsel and General Counsel for the New York City Board of Education before becoming General Counsel / Senior Education Adviser to the Manhattan Borough President and Executive Director for public education initiatives at the New York City Partnership. As well, Professor Bloomfield has been the Program Head of Educational Leadership at Brooklyn College where he restructured curriculum and degree requirements, tripled enrollment and raised over $1 million through grants and strategic partnerships with the U.S. Dept. of Education, NYS Education Dept., NYC Dept. of Education, the Wallace Foundation, The Archdiocese of NY, The Diocese of Brooklyn and the Board of Jewish Education. Professor Bloomfield is a frequent commentator on education in local and national media, specializing in Education Law and Policy, Urban School Reform and School District Governance and Management.
