Shiryn Sukhram (Assistant Professor) received her Ph.D. in Public Health from Florida International University. Her research interests focus on the areas of environmental health where she analyzes the links between human health and exposure to environmental factors. She has extensive practice in communicating the importance of public health concerns to various international audiences. Her dissertation provided first-hand experience investigating minority populations in Europe, where she examined biomarkers of modifiable health risks. Dr. Sukhram’s current research is directed to understanding cardiovascular risk factors among minority populations with type 2 diabetes. She also possesses wide-ranging laboratory experiences directed towards molecular research. Biological and social risk factors are also key elements investigated in her research endeavors.
