Collette Chapman-Hilliard earned her BS in Cognitive Studies and Child Development from Vanderbilt University and received her MA in Educational Psychology and PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests relate broadly to examining the psychological experiences of racial and ethnic groups, particularly people of African descent, as well as exploring issues of social justice and diversity. Collette’s research interests can be categorized in the following areas: 1) racial/ethnic identity development and psychological functioning, 2) social identity intersectionality and clinical contexts, and 3) critical psychology and cultural consciousness. In addition to her research, she values therapeutic work and has completed clinical rotations in college counseling, community mental health, and inpatient psychiatric care settings.
