Kristen Mammen (Assistant Professor) received her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Columbia College and a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University. Before coming to CSI, she taught at Barnard College and in the graduate policy schools of Princeton University and Columbia University. Her research focuses on issues related to the economic well-being of women and children, in both developing and developed countries. She has studied how the intrahousehold allocation of resources is influenced by children’s gender and by their relationship to the head of the household. Another strand of her research examines how government policies affect decision-making within families, and the consequences for well-being.
