Sohomjit Ray received his Ph.D. in English from Kent State University. His most recent research examines how the coding of queer issues in neoliberal ideology has had a strong impact on representations of same-sex desire in the fiction and public cultures of India after 1991. His areas of interest include postcolonial and queer theory; interconnections between race, gender, and sexuality; neoliberalism and globalization; and South Asian literature and culture. He is thrilled to become a part of the English department at the College of Staten Island from Fall 2014.
