Paolo Cappellari is joining CSI as an Assistant Professor of Information Management in the Department of Marketing. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Università Roma Tre, Rome, Italy. His career has included positions in industry and academia. He worked for some of the top firms in his field include Microsoft Research at their Washington headquarters, and IBM at their Dublin facility. While at IBM he received the firm’s award for Best Collaborative Hack during their Hack-Day competition. Most recently he worked for a start-up company in New York – Collective[i]. He has also held academic positions with Dublin City University and the University of Alberta. His research focuses the effective management, interpretation, and utilization of static and streaming big data. He has published more than 20 referred journal articles and conference proceeding as well as one book chapter. He has also served as a reviewer for a variety of the most prestigious international conferences and as an organizer for international conferences in Italy, Turkey, China, and the UK. While at CSI, he hopes to continue his research into the business implications of static and streaming big data and to teach a variety of courses ranging from introductory information management to graduate level courses in data analytics.
