Dr. Stephanie Schmier, Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, has taught at the elementary school level as well as literacy courses for graduate and undergraduate students at Teachers College, Columbia University, The University of Southern California, and Bard College. Her research focuses on adolescent literacy, critical digital literacies, and digital ethnography. She has published in the journals Language Arts, eLearning, and Literacy. Professor Schmier has been recognized as a finalist for the Outstanding Dissertation Award of the Year by the International Reading Association and earned a National Academy of Education fellowship to study the digital literacy practices of youth in underserved communities.
