The Art Gallery of the College of Staten Island warmly invites you to visit our upcoming exhibition, Practice | Process | Place: New Work by the BFA Faculty featuring Miguel Aragon, Tracey Jones, Beatrix Reinhardt, Chris Verene, and Marianne Weil from Monday, Nov. 9 to Saturday, Dec. 12.
This exhibition celebrates the first semester of the College of Staten Island’s new Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Through a diverse range of exciting new works by our full-time Art faculty, Miguel Aragon (printmaking), Tracey Jones (painting), Beatrix Reinhardt (photography), Chris Verene (photography), and Marianne Weil (sculpture), the exhibition explores what it means to be an artist. What is involved in developing an individual art practice? Visitors will experience a diverse range of materials and art forms from traditional oil painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography to new media such as video and playful new materials like printed pillows. Within the variety of approaches and themes, each artist foregrounds the process of making the work and explores issues related to place–as either imagined or charged with geopolitical and social significance.
The exhibit is curated by Siona Wilson (Associate Professor of Art History)
Please join us for a reception to celebrate the exhibition on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Refreshments will be served and all are warmly welcome.
The Gallery is located in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P).
Opening hours: Monday-Thursday: Noon to 4:00pm, Saturday: Noon to 3:00pm
