The College of Staten Island Cheerleading squad will take on a competitive agenda on Saturday at the Sports & Recreation Center, hosting a STUNT competition on its floor that will feature six visiting schools all playing one another in a series of games beginning at5 9:20 am and concluding late in the afternoon. The Dolphins will be taking on Pace University at 12:50pm and Rider University at 3:10 pm.
STUNT is a competitive form of cheerleading that removes the crowd-leading element and focuses on the technical and athletic components of cheer, including partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, group jumps and tumbling. It is created by USA Cheer and many colleges and local high schools have been involved. STUNT games work like traditional varsity events with a game clock, scoreboard, referee, and periods of play. Matches run about 40 minutes long and will run throughout the day on Saturday.

9:20 am – Hofstra vs. St. Joseph’s
10:30 am – St. Joseph’s vs. Delaware
11:40 am – Delaware vs. Hofstra
12:50 pm – Pace vs. Staten Island
2:00 pm – Long Island vs. Pace
3:10 pm – Staten Island vs. Rider
4:20 pm – Rider vs. Long Island
Tickets are $7 for General Admission to the event which will allow spectators to take in all of the day’s activities. The competition promises to be exciting and intense. In the STUNT national poll, Delaware is ranked No. 2, Hofstra No. 4, St. Joseph’s No. 9, and Rider No. 10.
CSI plans to participate in off-campus STUNT competition in March at Hofstra University as well.
