The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) is beginning a project that will impact initially on three administration buildings (1A, 2A, and 3A) and will be expanded to include a second phase encompassing four academic buildings. The administration buildings will have new gutters and leaders installed, which will ultimately protect the building foundations and basements. This aspect of the project will include the collection of the run-off from rain and snow into underground tanks that will control the flow of water into the sewer system. Eventually, the retention tanks collecting the run-off will be connected to our irrigation system and be used for maintaining the campus green spaces.
The second phase of the project will begin shortly after Commencement and will include not only the leaders and gutters but also the reconstruction of four plazas in front of the buildings. The buildings impacted include 1N, 2N, 3S, and 5S. The reconstruction of the plazas is necessary to address grade conditions at the buildings, and provide improved ADA access. The remaining six quad buildings will be part of a future phase as funds become available through our critical maintenance allocation. Throughout the construction process, the contractor will maintain ADA access to each of the buildings.
