Join us for a Dean’s Symposium, presented by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in the Center for the Arts (Building 1P) Lecture Hall from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.
The symposium will feature”Deadlock and (More) Disillusionment: Reflections on America’s Political Crisis,” a lecture and discussion with Gary W. Reichard, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and will be moderated by Lee Papa, Associate Professor of English.
Gary W. Reichard has served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the College of Staten Island since July 2015. During a long career before coming to CSI, he served as Chair of the History departments at both The Ohio State University and Florida Atlantic University, and held tenured faculty and academic administrative positions at a number of other universities. An accomplished political historian, Dr. Reichard is the author of numerous books and journal articles, including Politics As Usual: The Age of Truman and Eisenhower (1988; revised ed., 2004), and, most recently, Deadlock and Disillusionment: American Politics Since 1968 (2016). Dr. Reichard holds a BA from the College of Wooster, an MA from Vanderbilt University, and a PhD in History from Cornell University.
