New Haven, CT | The College of Staten Island concluded a long meet on Saturday afternoon into the evening, earning great finishes at the Giegengack Invitational hosted by Yale University, an unscored meet held at Coxe Cage.

WOMEN’S MEET
CSI made their presence felt early in this meet, as the foursome of Rachel Edmonds, Ommiya Butt, Tristiana Adragna, and Kharyn Ethridge earned themselves a silver-place finish in the Distance Relay event with a time of 13:55.55.  The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy won the event overall.

CSI’s next event was the 60-meter Dash preliminaries.  There, Sarah Andes led the way with a time of 9.24 which landed her in 28th place, ahead of teammates Cassidy Iannariello at 9.62 (32nd), and Vanessa Mansur at 10.23 (36th). 

In the 1-mile run, Adragna was CSI’s lone participant, and she put up a time of 6:17.71, which landed her in 27th place among 33 in the field.  

Ethridge turned heads next in the 400-meter Dash, blazing in at 1:02.34, which landed her in seventh place in the field of 27.  Ethridge was just a little over two seconds off of the leader, Queens College senior Diana Cruz.

As the meet powered on, Edmonds took a 28th-place showing in the 800-meter Dash at 2:56.91, while Victoria DeBernardo came in at 3:12.66 to land in 34th.

In the 13th event of the late-afternoon, CSI earned a solid finish again when freshman Deavion Brown continued her tremendous season with an 8th-place run in the 200-meter Dash, coming in at 26.96, just a little over half of a second behind winner Mikayla Mancini from Southern Connecticut State.

Wrapping things up, CSI saw Ethridge run an 11:19.42 in the 3K run, landing her in 13th place out of 22 runners.

In field events, Stephanie Da Silva earned 23rd in the Weight Throw, going for 7.41 meters.  Andes posted a 21st place faring in the Long Jump with 4.10 meters, and in the final field event, Da Silva earned a 6.42 meter distance in the shot put, landing her in 22nd place.

MEN’S MEET
Like the women, CSI started strong, putting up a fourth-place finish in the Distance Medley.  Spencer Milito, Jordan Thompson, David Outlaw and Liam McMunn combined for a time of 11:31.58.  

CSI then had three racers compete in the 60-meter preliminaries.  Wilson Esguerra led the trio in 28th place with a time of 7.71.  In next was Canaan Rodriguez at 8.02 (35th), and Olatain Okeowo at 8.22, good for 37th.

Three racers also represented in the 1-mile run.  Outlaw led them all with a time of 5:02.60, which gave him an 18th-place result.  Ahmed Khodir was next in for CSI with a time of 5:31.43, good for 23rd.  Daniel Palmieri was the final Dolphin in this one, coming in 26th overall at 5:52.33.

CSI made their presence known again with a great run by Jordan Thompson, who placed 6th overall in the 400-meter Dash with a quality time of 53.25.  Jaron Thompson came in at 57.92 and Justin Fernandez came in at 1:00.05, to earn 28th and 32nd, respectively.

McMunn was CSI’s top finisher in the 800-meter run.  He landed in 12th place overall with a time of 2:06.99, while teammates Jaron Thompson (2:19.37) and Khodir came in at 2:26.43, good for 25th and 29th-place.

In the final track event, Milito put up a time of 17:13.06, to place 6th overall in the 5K run an outstanding finish.

In field events, Rodriguez posted a 6.06 meter mark in the weight throw to earn 27th overall.
