On behalf of the Willowbrook Legacy Committee at the College of Staten Island, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your attendance at the Launch of the Year of Willowbrook event yesterday. The one-hour ceremony is available for viewing on Willowbrook’s YouTube Page
As you no doubt are aware, yesterday’s event is just the beginning of a year of public programming focused on Willowbrook.
Our next event marks the 50th anniversary of the national broadcast of Geraldo Rivera’s 1972 exposé, Willowbrook: The Last Great Disgrace, and will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 6:00pm via Zoom. This free public event will include a showing of the original ABC broadcast, followed by a lively discussion among Geraldo Rivera, Ken Iwama (Chancellor of Indiana University Northwest), and Eric Goldberg (IDD self-advocate, co-chair of the SIDDC’s Willowbrook Committee, and Willowbrook Legacy Committee member). There will also be time for questions from the audience.
