CSI’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion conducted the College’s first-ever Symposium on Combating Antisemitism in the Center for the Arts Lab Theatre.
The symposium featured a collection of lectures from experts studying antisemitism, including Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, and Lori Weintrob, Director of the Wagner College Holocaust Center.
CSI President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch addressed the gathering as well, noting the importance of the symposium and how it lends to greater work the College is doing with partners to combat antisemitism. “Let us use this symposium as a catalyst for change, sparking conversations that will resonate beyond these walls,” he said in part. “It is through understanding, empathy, and the dissemination of accurate information that we can challenge stereotypes and dismantle the roots of discrimination.”
Kosher food and beverages were served at the event, which was open to the CSI community. Students can get more information as well at https://www.hillelstatenisland.com.
