The Hoya, Georgetown University’s oldest and largest student newspaper, recently featured College of Staten Island alumna Andrea Dalzell, known across social media as “The Seated Nurse,” about a recent event held at GU where she spoke to students about how she uses her platform to advocate for better opportunities for disabled people in the field of healthcare.
Dalzell discussed her path to becoming the first registered nurse in a wheelchair in New York. She spoke about childhood experiences and living with transverse myelitis, and the difficulties that being in a wheelchair has had on her dream of becoming a nurse.
