On Thursday, April 18, the College of Staten Island Foundation celebrated “Spring into Giving,” its annual fundraiser held at the Richmond County Country Club on Staten Island, honoring three individuals for their exemplary service to the community and the College.
Against the backdrop of cocktails and a full dinner at RCCC, CSI paid tribute to Linda C. Dianto ’69, ’71, ’74, Executive Director of the National Lighthouse Museum; Edwina Frances Martin, Esq., Commissioner and Public Administrator of Richmond County; and Daniel J. Messina ’77, President and CEO of Richmond University Medical Center. The three honorees were presented with the President’s Medal from CSI President Dr. Timothy G. Lynch, who introduced the ceremony and offered insight into the future direction of the College alongside its partners in attendance.
Words were also shared from CSI’s Interim Executive Director of Advancement Cheryl Adolph, and CSI Foundation President Joseph Franzese, who thanked event Development Committee Chairperson Robert Catalano and Event Committee Co-Chairs Marilyn Caselli and Carole Gervasi for their diligent work putting the event together. Student speaker Keair Brown also took the podium, sharing her personal story of returning to the classroom as an adult learner and how scholarships, which “Spring into Giving” helps support, have paved the way to her success at CSI. A video featuring celebrated CSI alumni, including Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, was also shown to the attendees, emphasizing the power of a CSI education.
A silent auction, highlighted by an all-expense-paid Disney or Las Vegas vacation and several Staten Island-themed excursions, also kept the theme of giving back central to the event. Dinner and dancing capped off the evening.
