The College of Staten Island Office of Communications and the Department of Media Culture is partnering to bring a new series to CSI-TV, CSI’s official YouTube page, called the Student Film Series.

Beginning September 18 and debuting every third Wednesday of the month, CSI-TV will feature a CSI student filmmaker and a recent creation they’ve produced during their study within the Media Culture program at CSI. CSI Today will carry a Q&A with the student to go with the viewing, intended to highlight the incredible talent among CSI filmmakers.

“Year after year, our students present themselves, their communities and their imaginations fully into their works,” said Department of Media Culture Lab Technician Mitchell Lovell. “They are pushed towards excellence by the Department. And it’s impressive what the stand-out students achieve so early in their filmmaking journeys. I think viewers that keep with the series regularly will find the world of student films to be an inspiring one.”

The new series is part a revamped fall lineup on CSI-TV that includes another season of CSI’s Official Video Podcast, CSI Today Talks, and CSI: Behind-the-Scenes, which takes viewers on a tour behind the curtain of important CSI offices, services, and events. New shows also include a collaboration with CSI Athletics to bring viewers a CSI Game of the Week and another feature coming soon that features educational programming and discussion.

“We are making a concerted effort to offer our followers a more dynamic, visual, and immersive experience into the College and the people who make it the amazing campus it is,” said David Pizzuto, Interim Director of Communications and Marketing at CSI. “The student film series showcases the amazing creativity of our students within the Media Culture program, one that culminates into an outstanding student film festival each year. We hope the CSI and outside communities enjoy the films each month.”

CSI-TV’s Student Film Series will debut on Wednesday, September 18, at noon, with “In the Shadows of Your Backyard,” a short thriller created by CSI student Carmine Mazza.
