As you hopefully already know, the Nomination period for vacant seats on Student Government is open until the end of the day on Monday, October 7th. As you can see from below, we have many Senator positions open, as well as four seats on the CSI Association Board. These are vital student leader positions, and we need your help to spread the word and encourage students to consider nominating themselves or a fellow student whom they believe will represent the student body well. We appreciate your assistance & support with spreading the details of the message below.

ATTENTION STUDENTS!! CSI Student Elections are Coming!

Student Leader Positions are Open for the 2024 – 2025 Academic Year, and the Nomination Period to run for these positions is now open until Monday, October 7th, 2024 at 11:59pm.

Are you interested in being a student leader? Do you want to make a difference and have your voice be heard? There are open positions in the organizations listed below. Descriptions of these organizations are detailed here:  CSI Student Leadership-Organizations.

Student Government (8 seats available; minimum 2.25 GPA required)

  • Lower Division (6-59.9 Credits Completed)                   5 seats available
  • Upper Division (60 Credits & Above Completed)        2 seats available
  • Graduate Division (minimum 3.0 GPA required)        1 seat available

 CSI Association (4 seat available, 2.25 GPA required)

  • Lower Division (6-59.9 Credits Completed)                   2 seats available
  • Alternate Seats (6 Credits & Above Completed)         2 seats available

 In order to run for and hold these positions, CUNY has set the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must be matriculated in a degree or credit-bearing certificate program at the College of Staten Island;
  • Undergraduate students must carry a minimum of six credit hours and have a minimum 2.25 GPA;
  • Graduate students must carry a minimum of three credit hours and have a minimum 3.0 GPA;
  • In order to serve each semester, a student must have completed and earned passing grades in at least fifty percent of the credits for which he or she registered the prior semester, but in no event fewer than three credits;
  • GPA requirements vary and are noted on the nomination form;
  • All nominated students will be required to attend one of two scheduled Orientations on October 8, 2024 (2:30pm-3:30pm or 5:30pm-6:30pm). Any nominated student that does not attend this mandatory orientation will not be eligible to run for office.

The completed Nomination Packet, including the candidate platform statement described in “How to Become a Candidate,” must be submitted by 11:59pm on Monday, October 7th, 2024. The form can be accessed through the following link: CSI Student Government 24/25 Nomination Form.
