A bit of The Simpsons comes to Staten Island on Monday, April 19 as Mike Reiss brings his 20 years of experience as a writer and producer for the show to the CSI Center for the Arts Recital Hall from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.
Reiss will provide a unique insider’s view of the popular show, including rare video segments from The Simpsons and The Critic. He will also discuss how The Simpsons was almost canceled before it debuted, share trivia about the program, and tell stories about dealing with censors and celebrity guests. In addition, Reiss will examine the current state of television and where he sees it going. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask this television veteran, who has also written for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, questions at the end of the presentation.
This event, which will be introduced by CSI Assistant Professor of English Ava Chin, is sponsored by Operation 3-Legged Dolphin and Caesura, and the English and Media Culture departments.
After this free presentation, which is open to the public, Reiss will meet privately in a seminar-style roundtable discussion with CSI students from the student humor and literary magazines, Operation 3-Legged Dolphin and Caesura.
