Minor Renovation project requests: As you consider renovating your offices or departmental spaces, please be mindful of the required planning timeline.
The deadline for submitting space renovation requests is Jan. 31 of each year. This deadline is necessary to allow sufficient time for developing the scope of work and drawings, coordinating with trades and contractors, obtaining quotes, procuring materials, and scheduling the work. Space renovations often involve multiple trades (carpentry, electrical, flooring, locksmith, painting, etc.), making the process more complex than furniture orders. Early submission ensures that all requisitions related to the scope of work are reviewed and entered into the system no later than the Purchasing Department’s deadline.
Furniture requests: Additionally, as you consider furnishing your offices, please be aware of the procurement process for commercial-grade furniture. The deadline for furniture requests is Mar. 1 of each year.
Furniture procurement is a multi-step process to allow proper time to obtain quotes from vendors, which can take up to two weeks. allowing time for the Purchasing Department to processes the requisition and generate a purchase order (PO). From PO issuance to fabrication, delivery and installation, an additional six to ten weeks should be anticipated.
