Today is the day: The official transition to the new student email system.
CSI, along with other CUNY campuses, has transitioned to a new student email service as part of a CUNY-wide Microsoft 365 platform. This initiative provides students with a single, secure, and fully integrated email experience across all CUNY colleges. The new system offers a single mailbox and login for all CUNY communications, improves email delivery reliability, and enhances integration with Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and the MS Office Suite.
To support this transition, new student email accounts were created during Spring Break 2026 and are now fully active.
Overview of Changes
Students have a new college-branded email address based on their college affiliation (e.g., firstname.lastname##@stu-mail.csi.cuny.edu). The portion before the “@” matches their CUNY login.
As a reminder, you can also use: firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu. The portion before the “@” matches their CUNY login.
All official communications to students will now be delivered to their new CUNY mailbox.
During the transition period, students will continue to have access to their previous email accounts, and messages sent to those accounts will be automatically forwarded to the new mailbox to ensure continuity.
Important for Faculty and Staff
As part of this transition, please be mindful that student email addresses have changed. We ask that you:
- Update any saved contact lists, distribution lists, or communication tools to reflect the new student email format.
- Expect that some students may still be in the process of completing MFA setup or accessing their new accounts.
- Allow flexibility during this transition period, particularly for time-sensitive communications or assignments that rely on email access.
Your support and understanding are critical to ensuring a smooth experience for our students during this change.
