Campus Peace Officer Exam

The Civil Service Exam unit will be accepting applications for Campus Peace Officer 2019 from now until Friday, Apr. 10, 2009. The filing fee is $30 and the exam is open competitive.

Applications will not be accepted at any college HR department or at the 80th street location. Applicants are encouraged to apply via Exam Xpress here.

Applicants not wishing to complete the application online can download the application here.

Candidates must be New York CITY residents (strict five-boroughs interpretation) in order to qualify. This is a permanent qualification change mandated by outside events.

CSI Student Government Student Service Awards

Nominations are now open for Student Government Student Service Awards. Nominees must have shown exemplary extracurricular service to the students of CSI and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. There are six awards available to undergraduate or graduate students, eight for graduating students, and four for faculty/staff.Nomination forms are available in the Student Government office in the Campus Center (Building 1C) Room 207 and must be returned no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, Apr. 8. CSI Blood Drive

Thank you to all students, staff, and faculty who took the time to participate in the recent CSI Blood Drive. The New York Blood Center tells us that 129 people registered and 116 pints of blood were collected. There is simply no substitute for voluntarily donated blood. Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply.

Explore New Research Resources at the CSI Library

American Civil War Research, Eigteenth Century Collections, Financial Times, GreenFILE, National Science Digital Library, and Regional Business News are just some of the new full-text research resources added this year to the CSI Library’s digital collection.  Annotative descriptions of these new databases as well as 90 others are available online from the Library homepage   (listed under “Articles Databases”). In addition, all electronic resources can be explored easily at your convenience from off-campus, 24 hours a day/seven days a week, using your CSI email address to login.  For help, call the reference desk at 718.982.4010 or email us through the “Ask-A-Librarian” service button on the Library homepage and you will get a response within 12 hours.

Albert V. Maniscalco Rotary Scholarship

Students may now apply for the Albert V. Maniscalco Rotary Scholarship, in which a single award in the amount of $2,500 will be presented to a Staten Island resident majoring in Political Science. Applicants must be Staten Island residents, currently attending a Staten Island college and carrying a GPA of 3.0 or better. A history of volunteer work, extracurricular activity, or employment is recommended, but not required. Applicants will also have to demonstrate financial need.

The application deadline is Friday, April 10, 2009.

Mind and Health Fair

The Counseling Center will host the annual “Mind and Health Fair: Live Life in Balance” for students on Monday through Tuesday, Mar. 30 and 31. The event will kick off on Mar. 30 in the Library (Building 1L) Lobby from 10:00am to 2:00pm when students can pick up brochures at our information table, learn about CSI counseling services, measure stress levels, and the meet counselors. The ever-popular Relaxation Station returns to the Campus Center (Building 1C) Green Dolphin Lounge on Mar. 31 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Event highlights will include soothing and creative activities such as free massages, planting spring flowers, making stress relief balls, and more. This event is CLUE-certified and co-sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and funded by Student Activity Fees.
